Teenage Scammer, Accomplice Remanded For $40m Scam

Two fraudsters Tobechukwu Igbokwe (Alias David Prince)and his accomplice Ifeanyi Obi who are alleged to have duped an America of $40million are to remain in prison until December 3, 2013. Justice Lawal Akapo of the Lagos State High, Ikeja on Monday October 28, 2013 remanded the duo in prison custody after they were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on a 12- count charge bordering on forgery, conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretences contrary to section 8(a) and 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act No 14 of 2006.

Specifically, Igbokwe, 19 year-old secondary school leaver, was alleged to have severally duped his victims, many of them foreigners of huge amounts of money through the internet under fraudulent guises. He allegedly worked in concert with Obi to dupe an American, Micheal Silva of $40 million in an inheritance scam. Silva was made to believe that Igbokwe and his accomplice had a huge inheritance which they wanted to move to a foreign account for safe-keeping.

The victim was asked to send money to “process” the transfer and in the process, he wired $40m in several installments through Western Union Transfer to Igbokwe and Obi.

Igbokwe also confessed that he had duped other foreigners among them a Tommy Bedwell- who lost $6,000 to him and Richard Hunt-$15,000.

One of the charges against Igbokwe and Obi reads: “Tobechukwu Igbokwe (alias David Prince) (alias John Emma) sometimes in the month of October 2011 at Lagos within the Ikeja Judicial Division with intent to defraud obtained $800 (Eight Hundreds Dollars),$700(Seven Hundred Dollars), $200(Two Hundred Dollars) $400(Four Hundred Dollars), $200(Two Hundred Dollars), $300(Three Hundred Dollars), $500(Five Hundred Dollars), $500(Five Hundered Dollars) $500(Five Hundred Dollars) $200(Two Hundred Dollars); totalling $5,500 (Five Thousand Five Hundred Dollars) which sum you obtained separately from Michael Silva of the United States of America under false pretence that the money represent part payment for processing inheritance funds due to him as a beneficiary of the fund and which pretence you knew was false”.

When the charges were read to them, the defendants pleaded not guilty.
EFCC counsel, Fadeke Giwa prayed the court for a trial date and to remanded the accused persons in prison custody.
However, counsel to the first defendant, D. A Omougbai asked for a short date to file his bail application. Also, counsel to the second defendant, D. A Eimuejel prayed the court to accept the bail application he filed on behalf of his client.

Justice Akapo, however, adjourned the matter till December 3, 2013 and ordered that the defendants be remanded in Kirikiri Maximum Prison, Lagos.

[VIDEO] Check Out This 14-Year-Old Nigerian And Chelsea Wonder Kid Habib Makanjuola Currently At The FIFA Under-17 World Cup

Habib Makanjoula is currently representing Nigeria at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup, despite being just 14-years-old.

Ever heard of a young man by the name of Habib Makanjoula? No, well get used to it because at 14-years-old he is the youngest player to have played so far at this year’s Under-17 FIFA World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

The FIFA Under-17 World Cup is currently under way, and the tournament that has previously unearthed gems such as Cesc Fabregas, Toni Kroos and Landon Donovan is sure to discover a few more for teams from thePremier League and around the globe to purr over.

Makanjoula however is already one of them, after signing for Chelsea in August 2012.

He said at the time that Barcelona, Lyon and Manchester United were all also interested in his talents, but he liked the development facilities at Chelsea so chose The Blues as the club to help him realise an ambitious dream:

‘’I settled for Chelsea because of their youth development programmes. I am confident that with what I saw in the club, I will realize my ambition to become the world’s best football player at the age of 17.’’

Wow, such self-belief for one so young, but he does have the skills to achieve his dream – at least, ball juggling skills that is.

Makanjoula won the Red Bull World Football Juggling tournament in South Africa back in 2010 – at the age of 12.

He even performed in front of 80,000 people at a Christian convention in the same year, receiving a scholarship to study in England as a reward for his excellence.

He moved to Cambridge, and then had his trials at Chelsea which got him to this point today – 14-years-old and playing among the best 17 and 16-year-olds in world football.

How he can translate his mesmerising skills onto the pitch remain to be seen, and despite wearing the number ‘7’ shirt in UAE he has only so far featured as a late substitute against Mexico.

But Chelsea fans, remember the name Habib Makanjoula – because if he lives up to his own expectations, he is going to be a household name in three years’ time.

Here is a video of him performing his ball-juggling routine … and before you criticise the final minute or so remember this…

He is 12-years-old at the time in front of 80,000 people! Watch the video below;

Husband Catches His Wife Red Handed With Lover In A Hotel : SEE PHOTO

With this kind of mess, it is getting clearer these days that some married women are living with their husband but carrying the baby of another man inside the same house. Immorality of the highest order!

It was the end of the road for this promiscuous married woman as her husband caught her in a local hotel as she was busy doing things with her lover. Unfortunately, the woman, said to be very quiet and acting like she can’t even hurt a fly, is already pregnant.

The husband stormed the cheap hotel where his quiet wife was “enjoying” herself following a tip-off, and he was shocked beyond words. He is now doubting if he is indeed responsible for his wife’s pregnancy.

A source say the man she followed to the hotel was her former boyfriend before she got married recently.

Some women are just poison…too bad!

Police Shoot And Kill 13-Year-Old Boy Carrying Toy Gun

Dozens of people marched through the Santa Rosa neighborhood where a 13 year old boy was shot and killed by one of two sheriff’s deputies, after the deputies mistakenly thought the toy rifle was a real assault weapon.

Santa Rosa Police, who are handling the shooting investigation, say the deputies stopped their marked patrol car on Tuesday afternoon at 3:14 and told Andy Lopez twice to put down the gun.

Police say Lopez had his back to the deputies, who didn’t realize he was so young.

Instead, they say, Lopez turned with the barrel of the gun pointing toward them.

Police say the deputies feared for their lives and one of them opened fire.

“The deputy then fired several rounds from his service weapon at the subject,” said Lt. Paul Henry, “striking him at least one time. The subject immediately fell to the ground.”

But one neighbor said he saw something different.

Ethan Oliver says he lives across the street and came outside after he heard two gun shots.

He says by that time Lopez was already on the ground.

“Then the cops went at it again and unloaded like 6 to 7 shots,” said Oliver.

When asked if he meant that the deputy shot Lopez while he was on the ground, Oliver said, “Yeah. Exactly what I saw.”

Authorities haven’t responded to that statement.

During a Wednesday afternoon news conference police displayed a real assault weapon and the “air soft” carried by the teen to demonstrate how difficult it is to tell them apart.

But one neighbor said police should know the difference.

“They kinda look the same,” said Christina Avila, “but at the same time if you’re law enforcement your job is to know what’s real and what’s fake.”

Greg Kestel said he used to work in the neighborhood, and said the teen wasn’t doing anything that a teen in any other part of the county wouldn’t be doing.

“If this is like anywhere else in rural Sonoma County and a kid with a pellet gun, they wouldn’t have done nothing to him,” said Kestel. “But this urban area they just blast the kid.”

Maritza Gallardo, 12, said she simply misses seeing her 13 year old cousin.

“It did hurt. It hurts a lot that he’s gone,” said Gallardo.

The Santa Rosa and Petaluma police departments were joining with the District Attorney’s office in the investigation of the shooting while the two deputies were on administrative leave.

US denies tapping Merkel's mobile phone

US President Barack Obama had assured German Chancellor Angela Merkel that the US is not monitoring her communications, according to the White House spokesman.

Carney's statement on Wednesday comes in response to the German government's announcement that it has obtained information suggesting the US may have tapped Merkel's mobile phone.

Merkel called Obama to demand an immediate clarification, her spokesman said in a statement.

"She made clear that she views such practices, if proven true, as completely unacceptable and condemns them unequivocally," the statement read.

"Between close friends and partners, as Germany and the US have been for decades, there should not be such monitoring of the communications of a government leader. This would be a grave breach of trust. Such practices should be immediately stopped."

'Shared security challenges'

For its part, the White House denied that the US is listening in on Merkel's phone calls now.

"The president assured the chancellor that the United States is not monitoring and will not monitor the communications of the chancellor," spokesman Jay Carney said.

"The United States greatly values our close cooperation with Germany on a broad range of shared security challenges."

However, Carney did not specifically say that the US had never monitored or obtained Merkel's communications.

The news broke as Secretary of State John Kerry, on a visit to Rome, faced fresh questions about mass spying on European allies, based on revelations from Edward Snowden, the fugitive ex-US intelligence operative granted asylum in Russia.

French President Francois Hollande is pressing for the US spying issue to be put on the agenda of a summit of European leaders starting on Thursday.

French newspaper Le Monde reported earlier this week that the National Security Agency (NSA) had collected tens of thousands of French phone records.

Just four months ago, Obama defended US anti-terrorism tactics on a visit to Berlin, telling Germans at a news conference with Merkel that Washington was not spying on ordinary citizens.
