Detroit ex-Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick sentenced to 28 years

                        

    The former mayor of the city of Detroit,United States of America,has been sentenced to 28 years in prison for corruption.Kwame Kilpatrick was convicted in March on 2 dozen counts including racketeering,fraud and extortion.He served the bankrupt city from 2002 to 2008 when he resigned after lying under oath in a lawsuit,later approving $8.4m settlement to cover it up.
Eighteen other officials were convicted of corruption under that period.
Kilpatrick was ordered to pay $1m to the city of Detroit after  after pleading guilty to charges of obstruction of Justice in 2008.
But he was later accused of hiding assets and told judge he could only afford $6 a month in restitution.
